Akatsi: 3 Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Electrical Cables from Wodome School Project

Three persons are in the custody of the Akatsi South Police for allegedly stealing electrical cables from the construction site of a three-unit classroom block at Wodome Basic School.

The suspects, identified as Edem Dzanado of Wodome Xebidzikope, Steven Dzameshi of Wodome Logakope, and George Shitor of Wodome Xebidzikope, are accused of cutting and stealing power cables installed for the school project.

According to reports, the incident occurred on June 11, 2026. The suspects were arrested the following day through the efforts of Unit Committee members and residents of the community, who later handed them over to the Akatsi South Police for further investigations.

The three are expected to be arraigned before court on June 18, 2026.

Confirming the incident to Veritas News, the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Daniel Amuzu Kale, commended residents for their vigilance and cooperation in protecting public property.

“The swift action of community members demonstrates the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding development projects meant to benefit everyone,” he said.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
