Renowned Energy Jurist Lom Nuku Ahlijah Headlines GHIPCON 2026 Policy Dialogue

Renowned energy law expert, corporate attorney, and legal academic, Lawyer Lom Nuku Ahlijah, Esq., has been confirmed as one of the distinguished speakers at the Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHIPCON) 2026, where he is expected to provide critical insights into policy, regulation, and investment strategies shaping Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.

The two-day conference, scheduled from Thursday 16th to Friday 17th July, 2026, at The Palms Convention Centre, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra, will be held under the theme: “Building a Resilient Downstream: Policy, Innovation and Investment for Growth.”

The conference will bring together key stakeholders in the petroleum and energy industry to discuss strategies for strengthening the downstream industry amid evolving global and local energy trends, economic uncertainties, infrastructure challenges, and the need for sustainable investment frameworks.

Lawyer Lom Nuku Ahlijah, the Managing Attorney of Integri Solicitors and Advocates, a leading Ghanaian corporate law firm with expertise in energy and natural resources, brings extensive experience at the intersection of law, energy policy, and commercial development.

Lawyer Ahlijah is a leading voice in Ghana’s energy law space and author of the country’s pioneering textbook on energy law and policy. He previously served as a legal attorney for Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), where he gained expertise in energy regulation, infrastructure, and utility operations.

As dual-qualified lawyer in Ghana and New York, USA, he holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a business certification from Harvard Business School. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at GIMPA and has contributed to key national energy initiatives, including the Ghana Nuclear Power Programme Organisation Lawyers’ Group and the Energy Sector Cash Waterfall Committee.

Ahead of the conference, Lawyer Ahlijah told Veritasnewsgh that his contribution would focus on strengthening the legal and policy foundations required to advance Ghana’s energy sector.

“GHIPCON 2026 presents an important platform to examine the legal, regulatory, and investment frameworks needed to build a more resilient and sustainable downstream petroleum sector. I look forward to sharing insights that can support innovation, strengthen governance, and unlock opportunities for growth,” he said.

At GHIPCON 2026, Lawyer Ahlijah is expected to share perspectives on regulatory reforms, compliance frameworks, investment structures, and policy interventions needed to build a resilient petroleum downstream sector capable of attracting capital and supporting long-term growth.

He added that Ghana’s energy industry needs to be reshaped for sustainability

“The future of Ghana’s energy sector requires strategic policy direction, investor confidence, and a strong legal foundation. My contribution will focus on practical pathways for navigating regulatory challenges while creating an enabling environment for sustainable energy development.”

His participation is expected to provide policymakers, investors, and industry players with valuable legal and strategic perspectives on navigating Ghana’s evolving energy landscape.
