Shime, Anloga District – July , 2025

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anloga District, Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has once again reaffirmed her commitment to supporting flood victims and advancing climate-resilient livelihoods across vulnerable communities within the Anloga District.

During a working tour over the week in the company of the District NADMO Director, and other officials. She donated essential relief items to residents of Agorblodokui, Blemazado, and Sakome, three communities severely affected by recent floods in the Shime area. The items distributed included bags of rice, vegetable cooking oil, mosquito nets, and Wellington boots among others.

During the donation ceremony, Mad Sandra sympathised with the victims and hinted at more similar support for other vulnerable communities

“These are difficult times for our people, and I truly share in their pain and frustration,” the DCE remarked. “We are working tirelessly to mobilise additional support for other affected communities yet to be reached.”

The relief effort forms part of a broader emergency response by the Anloga District Assembly, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), to alleviate the plight of residents displaced by heavy rains and rising water levels.

In a similar gesture, Madam Kpedor also led a technical team from the Strengthening Investments in Gender-Responsive Climate Adaptation (SIGRA) initiative, headed by the Regional Development Officer, Mr. Iddrisu Isahaku, to the Fuveme community. The visit was to inspect a proposed site for an aquaculture project aimed at empowering women, particularly those bearing the brunt of climate change in the coastal belt.

Speaking to Veritasnews.com during the visit, she mentioned how the project will transform the area and called on the stakeholders to speed up the processes

“The initiative is designed to offer sustainable livelihood opportunities, especially for women whose means of survival have been threatened by environmental degradation,” she explained. “I have urged the team to fast-track implementation so we can provide tangible economic alternatives to affected households.”

Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor’s action over the week reinforced the Assembly’s dual commitment to emergency response and long-term resilience building in the face of growing climate threats.
