Senanu Djokoto Calls for Stronger Healthcare Access, Sustainable Development at Ziope Agbleza

Dr Senanu Kwesi Djokoto, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has called for stronger access to quality healthcare and greater commitment to sustainable development as communities work to preserve their cultural heritage.
Dr Dzokoto made the call when he joined chiefs, elders and residents of the Ziope Traditional Area for the grand durbar to climax their annual Agbleza festival, where he served as Chairman over the weekend.
Speaking at the celebration, he spoke on the importance of prioritising healthcare for all, noting that the government’s free primary healthcare policy would help promote early detection of illnesses and expand access to essential health services, particularly at the community level.
“We must continue to prioritise healthcare for all, because early detection of illnesses can save lives and ensure that people have access to quality healthcare before conditions become more serious.”
Dr Dzokoto also highlighted the critical contribution of farmers and the agricultural sector to Ghana’s food security and socio-economic development, describing farming as both an economic activity and an important part of the country’s cultural heritage.
He called for greater unity among the people of Ziope and urged communities to protect their heritage while embracing sustainable approaches to development.
“Agbleza reminds us that farming is not merely an occupation; it is a heritage that sustains our communities and contributes significantly to our nation’s food security. We must therefore protect this heritage while promoting sustainable development for future generations.”
As part of his support for the development of the traditional area, Dr Dzokoto made a financial contribution of an undisclosed amount towards the construction of an office space for the Ziope Traditional Council.
He also visited the NHIS stand at the durbar grounds, where free registration and renewal services were being provided, and commended the staff for their dedication to extending health insurance services to residents.
The celebration brought together traditional leaders, political leaders, government officials and residents, including Mamaga Norkuawuwo V, Paramount Queen-Mother of the Ziope Traditional Area and Acting President of the Ziope Traditional Council; Member of Parliament for Agotime-Ziope, Hon. Charles Agbeve; and District Chief Executive for Agotime-Ziope, Hon. Alfred Eklu Odikro.
The annual Agbleza festival serves as a celebration of the contribution of farmers to the development and sustenance of the Ziope community, while providing an opportunity for the people to renew their commitment to unity, cultural preservation and community development.
