Businessman and philanthropist, Mr. Felix Akonta Akakpo, has donated a substantial consignment of relief items to victims of the recent floods that affected several communities in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
The humanitarian exercise, carried out in collaboration with the Ketu South Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Oficce, took place on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
The items were presented on behalf of Mr. Akakpo by Mr. Dynamic Akakpo to support families whose homes and livelihoods were impacted by the floods.
The Duta Electoral Area within the Aflao Traditional Area was among the worst-hit locations. Other beneficiary communities included Démadikope, Gakli, and Agbawoeme, all of which suffered varying degrees of destruction following the flooding.
Relief items distributed to affected households included 10 “student size” mattresses, 100 kilograms of rice, 15 cartons of spaghetti, 10 cartons of sardines, 200 mosquito nets, four sacks of maize (equivalent to 240 bowls), 100 litres of cooking oil, and 150 bags of sachet water.

Speaking through his representative, Mr. Akakpo noted that although the recent floods attracted national attention due to their devastating impact on Accra, several communities in Ketu South also experienced significant hardship, leaving many families in urgent need of assistance.
He emphasized that the donation was intended to provide immediate relief to affected residents while they await government intervention and more sustainable flood mitigation measures.
“While I acknowledge that this intervention is not a permanent solution to the recurring flooding in these communities, it is my humble contribution towards easing the immediate burden on our brothers and sisters as we await government support and a more sustainable, long-term response,” he said.

Mr. Akakpo, who also serves as a youth development chief in Ketu South (Torgbui Tenuvi III) and is widely recognised for his philanthropic activities across the municipality, pledged to extend similar assistance to other affected communities should the need arise.
He further expressed solidarity with all flood victims and offered prayers for strength, comfort, and resilience as they recover from the disaster.
