Xetoto Arts Foundation, KETASCO Unveil ‘Keta Heritage Wall’ to Showcase Anlo History and Boost Tourism
Keta (Volta Region) July, 2026
The Xetoto Arts Foundation (XAF), in partnership with the Visual Arts Department of Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO), has announced an ambitious public art initiative dubbed the “Keta Heritage Wall”, aimed at transforming the school’s perimeter wall into a vibrant cultural landmark that celebrates the history, heritage and identity of Keta and the wider Anlo State.
The project seeks to convert the extensive over 300-metre fence wall into a living outdoor gallery that tells the story of Keta, Anloland and the rich cultural heritage of the Volta Region through large-scale murals and artistic installations.
Organisers believe the initiative will not only beautify the school environment but also establish Keta as an emerging destination for art, culture and tourism.
The announcement follows a successful engagement held a fortnight ago between exeutives of the Xetoto Arts Foundation and the management of KETASCO, led by the Headmaster, Mr. Innocent August. During the meeting, the school’s leadership welcomed the initiative and pledged its full support to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Speaking on the initiative to veritasnewsgh, Founder of the Xetoto Arts Foundation, Mr. Hughes Elorm Abdallah, described the project as a transformative vision designed to preserve local history while inspiring future generations.
“We are building a museum without doors that will place Keta firmly on the art and tourism spotlight. This is a bold vision to transform over 300 metres of KETASCO’s wall into a living canvas celebrating the rich history, culture, heroes and identity of Anlo,” he said.
Beyond the artistic transformation, the project will incorporate a series of educational engagements, workshops and dialogue sessions where renowned Ghanaian and international visual artists will mentor students of KETASCO’s Visual Arts Department. The mentorship programme is expected to expose students to career opportunities within the creative industry while equipping them with practical skills and real-world knowledge in visual arts.
Mr. Charles Anyiri, Art Director of the Xetoto Arts Foundation, expressed excitement about the partnership, describing the collaboration as a significant milestone for both the foundation and the school.
“We are deeply grateful to the Headmaster, the Board and the management team of KETASCO for warmly receiving the Xetoto Arts Foundation team and granting approval for this monumental initiative. Your support is helping bring a community dream to life,” he said.
Implementation of the Keta Heritage Wall is scheduled to commence in the latter part of September and is expected to run for approximately four weeks.

As preparations gather momentum, the Foundation has appealed to corporate organisations, institutions, philanthropists and members of the public to support the initiative through sponsorships and donations. According to the organisers, contributions such as paints, brushes, protective equipment, art materials, logistics and financial assistance will play a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of the project.
An Executive Member of the Foundation, Mr. Bright Carlton, said the initiative marks the beginning of a broader vision to redefine public art in Keta.
“This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we reveal how the Keta Heritage Wall will redefine public art, where every mural tells a story, every visitor discovers our heritage, and every generation finds inspiration.” Mr Bright said.
The Xetoto Arts Foundation is a pioneering non-governmental organisation committed to empowering young people in Keta and Anloland through the integration of visual arts, science and performance arts education. With a particular focus on supporting underprivileged students, the Foundation provides training, mentorship and creative opportunities that nurture artistic excellence, innovation and technological skills.
