Anloga, Volta Region – June, 2026
The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the Anloga District following a working visit to key health facilities in the area.
The Minister, accompanied by the District Chief Executive for Anloga, Sandra Seyram Kpedor, officials from the Ministry of Health, the Anloga District Health Directorate, and technical staff of the Anloga District Assembly, inspected the newly constructed and furnished Health Kiosk in Anloga, the Free Primary Health Facility at Whuti/Srogboe, and the Anloga Polyclinic.
The visit was aimed at assessing the readiness of the facilities for operation, evaluating existing healthcare infrastructure, and identifying areas requiring urgent intervention to improve service delivery across the district.
Speaking during the tour, Mr Gunu noted that the Free Primary Health Facility at Whuti/Srogboe forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of bringing quality healthcare services closer to communities. He indicated that such facilities are expected to enhance access to healthcare, facilitate early detection and diagnosis of diseases, and improve treatment outcomes for residents.

At the Anloga Polyclinic, the Minister toured various departments and engaged health professionals on the challenges confronting healthcare delivery in the district. Particular attention was given to the facility’s theatre block, which has remained incomplete and non-operational for several years despite ongoing demand for surgical services.
The Minister expressed concern over the stalled state of the project and acknowledged the significant impact a fully functional theatre would have on healthcare delivery within the district and neighbouring communities. He assured management and staff that he would engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that the necessary support is mobilised to complete the project and make it operational.

Madam Jemima Misonu Akporlu, The Anloga District Director of Health Services, who led the health delegation during the visit, welcomed the Minister and his entourage and expressed appreciation for the attention being given to the district’s healthcare needs.
Madam Akporlu highlighted the infrastructural challenges facing health facilities within the district, noting that several facilities require expansion, upgrading, and additional logistical support to meet the growing healthcare demands of the population. She appealed for sustained investment in health infrastructure and equipment to improve service delivery and patient care.

In response, Hon. Gunu assured health authorities and personnel that efforts would be made to facilitate the procurement of essential medical equipment required by the facilities. He stressed that improving healthcare infrastructure remains a priority and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that residents of the Anloga District have access to quality and efficient healthcare services.
