A dramatic undercover police operation in Thailand has led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer during a street dance festival after officers disguised themselves as stylish female dancers to blend into the celebrations.
According to reports, the operation involved a team of five police officers and a woman who joined the public festivities undercover as dancers before moving in to arrest the suspect identified as Mekha Fa-wap-wap.
Authorities said the suspect was found in possession of more than 53 methamphetamine pills and approximately 200 plastic bags allegedly intended for packaging and selling narcotics.
The suspect is now facing charges relating to the possession of Category 1 narcotics for sale as well as operating an illegal online slot machine.
The unusual operation has attracted widespread public attention, with many observers highlighting the increasingly creative tactics being employed by Thai law enforcement agencies during undercover assignments.
Police in Thailand have in recent years become known for using elaborate disguises during operations, particularly at crowded public events where officers can easily blend into large gatherings without raising suspicion.
Earlier this year, Thai authorities also drew international attention after viral footage emerged showing officers disguised in a lion costume arresting a suspected thief during another festival celebration.
Security analysts say such undercover strategies are often designed to reduce resistance during arrests while improving officers’ ability to gather intelligence unnoticed in busy public environments.
