Kristo Asafo Mission Denies Shooting Claims in Adwoa Safo Incident

The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has dismissed reports alleging that Sarah Adwoa Safo, was shot during an incident at the church’s property in Kwabenya on June 21, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Mission described the shooting claims circulating on social media as false and misleading. According to the church, Adwoa Safo arrived at the premises during a lawful church event and allegedly drove her vehicle into the entrance gates, causing significant damage to two metallic gates.

The Mission stated that security personnel intervened solely to maintain order and protect worshippers and invited guests who were present at the venue.

Church leadership further rejected allegations that Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother during the incident, insisting that no shooting occurred based on information available to them. The organisation has called on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.

The statement also urged the public to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified reports and to allow law enforcement agencies to establish the facts through due process.

Background

The incident stems from an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Dr. Ing. Kwadwo Safo. Tensions have emerged among some members of the Safo family and sections of the church over the leadership of the organisation, with reports indicating disagreements surrounding efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the successor.

Earlier reports circulating on social media alleged that the former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was injured in a shooting incident at a family property linked to the dispute. However, in a statement issued on June 21, 2026, the Kristo Asafo Mission denied that any shooting occurred, claiming instead that Adwoa Safo drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of a church property during an event, causing damage. The Mission has called for an impartial investigation as conflicting accounts of the incident continue to emerge.
