The Ghana Police Service has arrested Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, and two other individuals in connection with the alleged shooting incident involving former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
According to a police statement issued on June 22, 2026, Akofena reported himself to the Regional Police Headquarters and was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.
Police said a search conducted on the suspect’s vehicle and residence at Kwabenya led to the retrieval of 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .45 calibre ammunition, 25 rounds of .40 calibre ammunition, additional loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols, one of which is registered in his name.

The Police further disclosed that two additional suspects, Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, have also been arrested in connection with the case.
All three suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on June 23, 2026.
The arrests follow reports of a shooting incident allegedly involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo on June 21, 2026. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
