Mr Joseph Agbeko Kpogo, a philanthropist and education advocate, has supported about 200 final-year Junior High School (JHS) students from the Anlo Constituency who gained admission to Senior High and Technical Schools.
The beneficiaries, drawn from various basic schools across the constituency, excelled in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and secured admission to continue their education.
The support package, presented at a ceremony at the Anloga EP Basic School on Sunday, September 13, 2026, included student mattresses, trunks and more than 10,000 exercise books.
Some of the exercise books were also distributed to final-year JHS students to support their preparation for the 2027 BECE.
Mr Kpogo, speaking during the presentation, urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make effective use of the opportunity as they began a new phase of their educational journey.
The Politician said the initiative was motivated by concerns over students who, despite performing well in the BECE, were sometimes unable to continue their education because of financial difficulties.
Mr Kpogo told Veritasnewsgh.com that the intervention was therefore aimed at helping to reduce the financial barriers that prevented academically capable students from progressing to the next level of education.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused and disciplined, stressing the need for them to make their education a priority and work towards achieving their aspirations.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation for the support and pledged to make good use of the items provided.
“We will remain disciplined and take our books seriously to make the Anlo Constituency and Mr Kpogo proud,” they said.
The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, education officials and other stakeholders, including Togbi Zzewu IV, Daufia of Anloga, and Mama Dzotsi II of Anloga.
Officials from the District Education Directorate were also present to support the initiative.
The intervention was part of efforts to provide educational support to students from less-resourced backgrounds and help ensure that financial constraints do not prevent deserving young people from pursuing secondary education.
