The Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, has urged students not to allow their present circumstances to determine their future, encouraging them to remain focused on their education and strive to become responsible and productive members of society.
Mr Tsekpo made the call in Hohoe on Monday, September 14, 2026, when he supported 600 newly admitted Senior High School (SHS) students in the municipality with essential items to ease their transition into secondary education.
The beneficiaries received mattresses, chop boxes, bedspreads and other educational necessities as part of the MP’s education support initiative, which seeks to reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians, particularly those facing economic difficulties.
Addressing the students, Mr Tsekpo said education remained a critical pathway to improving the lives of young people and advancing the development prospects of the Hohoe Municipality.
He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, make responsible use of the opportunities available to them and remain disciplined throughout their academic journey.
The MP also encouraged the students to respect their parents, guardians and teachers, stressing the importance of hard work, discipline and good character in achieving their aspirations.

The latest intervention builds on a similar initiative undertaken the previous year, when 500 newly admitted SHS students in the municipality received essential items to support their entry into secondary school.
Mr Tsekpo again pledged his commitment to supporting education in the municipality and working with relevant stakeholders to improve the quality and image of education in Hohoe.
As part of efforts to motivate teachers and promote effective teaching and learning, he also announced that the overall best teacher in the Hohoe Municipality would receive a brand-new luxury vehicle under a proposed award scheme.
According to him, the initiative would recognise outstanding teachers and motivate them to sustain their contribution to the development of education in the municipality.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the MP for the support and pledged to work hard, maintain good behaviour and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana.
