ANSSOSA 2007 Year Group Launches 20th Anniversary, Unveils GH¢95,000 Library Legacy Project

The 2007-year group of Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) has officially launched activities to commemorate its 20th anniversary and unveiled plans to transform the school’s library annex into a modern library and e-learning facility.
The launch, held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the school’s dining hall, brought together members of the year group, school management, representatives of the Anlo Senior High School Old Students Association (ANSSOSA), students and other stakeholders to mark the beginning of activities leading to the anniversary celebration in 2027.
The occasion was chaired by the Headteacher of Anlo Senior High School, Mr Newman Dziedzorve, and the ANSSOSA Global President, Mr Aaron Andy Mensah Hanyabui.
Also in attendance were the ANSSOSA Diaspora Deputy Financial Secretary, Mr Kwame Ladzekpo; the Assistant Headteacher in charge of Administration, Madam Joyce Avorkliyah; and other members of the school’s management.
Reconnecting with Alma Mater
The anniversary activities began on Friday, September 18, when members of the 2007 year group arrived on campus for a familiarisation tour.
The group toured various parts of the school, visited the proposed site of the library project and interacted with students and members of staff.
The reunion continued in the evening with a traditional Borborbor entertainment session, which provided members with an opportunity to reconnect and relive some of the memories of their school days.
The following morning, members gathered at the school’s dining hall for the official launch ceremony.
As part of the ceremony, the year group also observed a minute’s silence in honour of about 10 of their former colleagues who had passed away.
A Legacy for Future Generations
The centrepiece of the anniversary launch was the unveiling of the group’s legacy project, the renovation and transformation of the school’s library annex into a modern learning and research facility.
The initiative, according to the group, is intended to provide students with a conducive environment for reading, research and digital learning, while leaving a lasting legacy for generations of students who will pass through the school.
When completed, the facility is expected to feature modern library furniture and cabinets with capacity to accommodate at least 5000 books, including textbooks aligned with the current standard-based curriculum.
The project will also include tiled flooring, modern and comfortable reading tables and chairs, improved ventilation and air-conditioning to enhance students’ comfort during study periods.
A major component of the facility will be an e-library management centre equipped with full internet connectivity to provide students with access to digital resources and support academic research and other educational activities.
The group intends to complete the project ahead of the climax of its 20th anniversary celebration in July 2027.
According to the Coordinator of the Anniversary Launch, Mr Frederick Amaglo, the project is estimated to cost not less than GH¢95,000.
He said the year group was committed to mobilising the necessary resources to ensure that the project was successfully completed.
Call to Sustain the Legacy
The ANSSOSA Global President, Mr Aaron Mensah Hanyabui, congratulated the 2007-year group for choosing to give back to their alma mater through a project that would directly benefit current and future students.
He encouraged other old students to embrace the spirit of giving back to the institutions that played an important role in shaping their lives.
Mr Hanyabui said initiatives of that nature demonstrated that the relationship between an old student and his or her alma mater should continue long after graduation.
The ANSSOSA Diaspora Deputy Financial Secretary, Mr Kwame Ladzekpo, also commended the 2007 year group for the initiative and urged members to remain united and committed until the project was completed.
He expressed optimism that the completed facility could become one of the notable school library complexes in the Volta Region if the group succeeded in implementing all the components of the project.
Mr Ladzekpo further encouraged members of the year group to remain active in ANSSOSA and continue to honour their obligations, particularly the payment of their association dues, to support the broader development of the school and the association.
‘An Investment in Education’
In an interview with the media, Madam Mercy Adzikadzi, Assistant Coordinator of the anniversary launch and former Girls Prefect of the 2007 year group, congratulated her colleagues for the initiative.
She appealed to corporate organisations, educational institutions, old students, individuals and other stakeholders to support the project, stressing that the proposed facility would serve students beyond the 2007 year group.
“This is not only a project for our year group; it is an investment in education and in the future of students who will pass through Anlo Senior High School,” she said.
Madam Adzikadzi said the support of stakeholders would be critical to ensuring that the vision of providing the school with a modern library and e-learning facility became a reality.
She therefore called on individuals and organisations willing to contribute financially, materially or technically to join the year group in delivering the project.
The launch marked the beginning of a series of activities leading to the 20th anniversary celebration of the 2007 year group in 2027, with the library project expected to serve as the group’s major legacy to Anlo Senior High School.
The ceremony was climaxed by a dinner and dance on Saturday evening at the Father’s Will Hotel where members networked, shared experiences and reminisced about their years in ANSECO
