Keta SHS set for major infrastructure boost under Ghana Education Trust Fund

Keta Senior High Technical School is poised for a significant leap in educational infrastructure and academic delivery as government prepares to officially cut sod for a series of strategic development projects aimed at redefining teaching and learning within the institution.
The sod-cutting ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, will be led by the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, alongside key government officials including Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament for Keta, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Wisdom Seade
.At the heart of the ceremony is the commencement of five critical infrastructure projects under the auspices of the Ghana Education Trust Fund, each carefully designed to address long-standing deficits in the school’s physical and academic environment.
The projects include a multipurpose assembly hall, a modern dining hall with an attached kitchen, a two-storey science laboratory equipped with contemporary tools, a three-storey 18-unit classroom block, and a steel bridge to improve accessibility from the school’s new site to thr main campus. Collectively, these developments represent more than mere construction—they signal a deliberate investment in the future of technical and secondary education in the Keta municipality.
The introduction of a fully equipped science laboratory is expected to significantly enhance practical learning, bridging the gap between theoretical instruction and real-world application.
Similarly, the construction of an 18-unit classroom block will ease congestion, improve student-teacher ratios, and create a more conducive environment for academic engagement. Overcrowding has long been a challenge in many public schools, and this intervention is anticipated to directly improve learning outcomes.
The inclusion of a modern dining hall and kitchen facility underscores a growing recognition of student welfare as a cornerstone of educational success.
The multipurpose assembly hall will serve as a hub for academic, cultural, and social activities, fostering holistic student development while positioning the school as a center for community engagement and institutional pride.Meanwhile, the construction of a steel bridge, though often overlooked in conventional school projects, carries significant logistical importance. It is expected to improve internal mobility, ensure safer movement across sections of the campus, and enhance accessibility during adverse weather conditions. In the long term, the enhanced capacity of Keta Senior High Technical School is likely to attract more students, elevate the institution’s status, and contribute to human capital development within the Volta Region.
Some staff members engaged by Veritas News expressed satisfaction with thr projects saying it will silve Some lang standing problems like lack of classroom space and an assembly hall.Old Students also applauded the government for the intervention showing their readiness to support government to realise the success of the projects
