A total of GH₵76.5 million has been released to support Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Ministry of Finance made the disbursement to Ghana’s senior national football team, and it comes in two parts aimed at ensuring the team’s smooth participation in the tournament.

The first phase of payment, which amounts to GH₵58.9 million, is an advance payment to be used for the team’s preparations and costs, especially the group stage games.

The second tranche of the money, which is GH₵17.5 million, is supposed to be for the settlement of outstanding bonuses owed to the players and technical team during the qualification stages

The bonus payment is a fulfilment of a performance-based agreement reached with the team during the qualifying stages, under which the players received 50 per cent of their match bonus during the qualifiers, with the remaining 50 per cent to be paid upon on the team’s successful qualification for the World Cup.

The Ghana Black Stars secured their spot in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing top of group I in the CAF qualifer with 25 points from 10 games

They have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, with their first game slated for Wednesday, 17th June against Panama, before taking on England on June 23 and later Croatia on June 27 at Philadelphia
