NHIA Keta engages stakeholders, announces automatic activation feature in fourth quarter outreach

Anlo-Afiadenyigba (Volta Region) October, 2025

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in Keta has intensified efforts to deepen public awareness and participation in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as part of its fourth-quarter stakeholder engagements.
The move forms part of a renewed commitment to expand healthcare access and promote proactive enrolment among residents of the municipality.

During a community stakeholders’ meeting held at Anlo-Afiadenyigba as part of the 2025 Tagbaza Festival celebrations, the NHIA regional team called on natives to embrace the scheme’s policies and take full advantage of the new features introduced to enhance service delivery.

Mr. Prosper Selorm Sevor, Manager of NHIA-Keta, highlighted ongoing initiatives such as new registrations, card renewals, and intensified public sensitisation on policies and programmes. He noted that the Authority remains committed to making healthcare more accessible and affordable for all residents.

The engagement also saw the introduction of an automatic activation system, a new measure designed to make policy renewals more seamless and reduce the number of inactive beneficiaries.

Mr Emmanuel Avinu, Regional Operations Manager, told Veritas News that the automatic activation feature is part of a broader digital transformation agenda by the Authority.

“The NHIA is being repositioned to serve the people better. This new activation system will help members renew their insurance automatically, ensuring continuous access to healthcare without interruption,” he said.

He further assured the public that the scheme has been strengthened to cover a wider range of health conditions and to operate more efficiently across all districts.

Togbi Kadzahlo Dzrabese IV, the Paramount Chief of Anlo-Afiadenyigba, who chaired the event, commended the Authority for its outreach efforts and urged his subjects to prioritise healthcare by enrolling and maintaining active membership.

“Health is wealth. Subscribing to the scheme saves families from unexpected financial pressures when illness strikes,” he emphasised.

According to the data available to the GNA, more than 200 beneficiaries were cared for after the program,

Also present were other officials from the regional NHIA office, including Mr Stanley Mawudoe, Keta Focal Person; Mr Paul Avuglah, Regional Transport Coordinator; Mr Nicolas Aklorbortu, Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer; and Mr George Tasiame, Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Manager.

The fourth-quarter stakeholder engagement underscores the NHIA’s commitment to promoting health insurance awareness, improving access to essential healthcare services, and ensuring that every Ghanaian enjoys continuous coverage through innovative systems like automatic activation.
