AquaCCop Programme Launched in Akatsi South to Boost Aquaculture and Livelihoods

The Aquaculture Community Commercialisation Programme (AquaCCop), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, has been launched in the Akatsi South Municipality to boost domestic fish production, create sustainable employment and strengthen community-based aquaculture enterprises.

The programme was launched on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly Hall, bringing together fish farmers, community representatives and other key stakeholders to discuss opportunities and strategies for developing aquaculture in the municipality.

AquaCCop seeks to promote aquaculture as a viable commercial venture through a cooperative implementation model that supports community participation and encourages increased local fish production. The initiative is also expected to contribute to food security, employment creation and improved livelihoods.
