Xornam Favour Alayi-Houssey has officially declared her intention to contest for the position of Ketu South Constituency Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), pledging to build a united, organised, empowered and action-oriented Women’s Wing.
According to her, the decision to contest follows consultations and engagements with party elders, women leaders, branch executives, grassroots organisers, youth activists and other stakeholders across the constituency.
Declaring her intention, Ms Alayi-Houssey said her motivation was rooted in a strong sense of duty to the party and a conviction that the Women’s Wing requires stronger coordination, greater visibility, inclusivity and sustained grassroots engagement.
She has adopted the campaign vision “One Wing. One Voice. One Victory,” which she says reflects her commitment to uniting women across the constituency and strengthening their collective contribution to the party.
According to her, “One Wing” represents unity and solidarity, “One Voice” symbolises the collective strength and visibility of women within the party, while “One Victory” represents the ultimate objective of building an effective grassroots network capable of contributing to the NDC’s success in the 2028 general elections and beyond.
Ms. Alayi-Houssey stressed that the mobilisation of women must go beyond election periods, arguing that an effective Women’s Wing must remain active throughout the political cycle.
She therefore intends to promote continuous grassroots engagement, political education, leadership development, electoral preparedness and stronger coordination among the constituency, branch, regional and national women’s structures.
Her proposed priorities also include women’s empowerment, youth development, political and electoral education, community development, support for vulnerable persons, and greater inclusivity within the Women’s Wing.
She said particular attention would be given to strengthening communication and relationships with women at the branch and community levels to ensure that their concerns are identified and addressed promptly.
On unity, Ms. Alayi-Houssey said the Women’s Wing must create an environment where every woman, irrespective of age, background, status or level of involvement in the party, feels valued and has an opportunity to contribute.
“Unity does not mean that we will always agree. It means that even when we disagree, we remain committed to our shared purpose and the collective interest of the party,” she said.
She further outlined Service, Unity, Action and Victory as the principles that would guide her campaign and proposed leadership, emphasising that her interest in the position is primarily about service rather than the title.
Ms. Alayi-Houssey is consequently appealing to women, branch executives, party activists, youth, elders and other stakeholders across Ketu South to support her bid as the constituency prepares for the internal contest.
She expressed confidence that a united and well-organised Women’s Wing would play a decisive role in strengthening the NDC’s grassroots structures and advancing the party’s electoral prospects in Ketu South.
Her declaration adds to the emerging contest for the Ketu South Constituency Women’s Organiser position, with the outcome expected to shape the direction of the constituency’s women’s mobilisation ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.
