Keta Hospital gets a Medical Lifeline as Lom Nuku Ahlija, NGO, Provides Essential Supplies
The Keta Government Hospital has received a consignment of essential medical supplies through a partnership between Lawyer Lom Nuku Ahlija, an energy jurist and politician, and the Living Presence Evangelistic Network (LIPEN), a faith-based organisation.
The intervention, made under the “Helping Hands Medical Donation” initiative, is aimed at helping the hospital address some of its needs for medical consumables and equipment, reduce the burden associated with procuring essential supplies and strengthen care for patients.
The items were presented to the hospital on Friday, August 7, 2026, at its forecourt in Keta, in the presence of members of the hospital management, representatives of LIPEN and members of the public.
The hospital also received respiratory-care supplies, including oxygen masks, nasal cannulas, oxygen tubing, nebulisers, suction catheters, tracheostomy care kits, humidification chambers and respiratory circuits.
Other items included blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, thermometers and stethoscopes, alongside alcohol preparation pads, examination gloves, protective gowns, face shields, masks, oral swabs and disinfecting supplies.
Presenting the items, Lawyer Ahlija said the donation was motivated by the desire to contribute directly to the wellbeing of people in the Keta community, particularly patients who depend on the hospital for essential healthcare.
He urged the hospital management and health workers to ensure that the supplies were put to their intended use and reached patients who needed them.
“We all know government cannot do everything for us; as a true son of the land, I must contribute my quota to the betterment of Keta. So, this is just the beginning,” he said.
He stressed that the availability of essential medical supplies and equipment could make a critical difference in the timely care and treatment of patients, adding that supporting health facilities was therefore an investment in the wellbeing of the community.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, Dr Anim Emmanuel expressed appreciation to the donors for responding to the facility’s needs.
He said the supplies would strengthen healthcare delivery by providing health workers with essential items needed in the day-to-day care of patients.
He added that the donation would also help reduce the hospital’s expenditure on some medical consumables, allowing available resources to be channelled into other areas of patient care.
For patients and frontline health workers, the intervention provides practical support for the daily demands of healthcare delivery, where access to basic consumables and equipment can influence the quality and timeliness of care.
The Living Presence Evangelistic Network (LIPEN), a faith-based ministry headquartered in Tema, Ghana, undertakes community outreach programmes to support vulnerable communities through the provision of essential items, including food, clothing and medical supplies, as well as prayer and counselling services.
The partnership with Lawyer Ahlija, through the “Helping Hands Medical Donation” initiative, brings together individual philanthropy and faith-based community support to strengthen healthcare delivery at the Keta Government Hospital.
