Adzido Community Launches Health Centre Project, Receives Significant Seed Donation
Adzido (Keta) July 10th 2026
The people of Adzido in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have taken a major step towards improving healthcare access in the community with the launch of an initiative to construct a modern community health centre.
The community officially commenced the project on Friday morning with a groundbreaking ceremony held at the proposed project site, marking the beginning of what residents describe as a significant milestone in their development journey.
The proposed health facility will be constructed on a one-acre piece of land located behind the Keta Lagoon Beach Hotel, a strategic location close to the Keta Nursing and Midwifery College. The facility is expected to provide residents with easier access to essential healthcare services and reduce the pressure on existing health facilities within the municipality.

The ceremony was chaired by the Dufia of Keta and Adzido, Togbi James Ocloo V, alongside some key community leaders including Mr Robert Gawugah and Mr. Dotsey Gawugah, who rallied residents and stakeholders around the vision of establishing a dedicated healthcare facility for the community.
As an initial demonstration of support, an indigene of Adzido, who chose to remain anonymous, donated GH¢10,000 as seed funding towards the project. The contribution is expected to provide an important foundation for the commencement of construction activities and encourage further support from individuals, organizations, and development partners.
To ensure effective coordination and accountability, a Community Development Committee has been constituted to lead resource mobilization, supervise the implementation process, and work closely with relevant stakeholders towards the successful completion of the facility.
Speaking at the ceremony, Togbi James Ocloo V commended the commitment and dedication of community elders and residents whose efforts have brought the vision into reality. He appealed to other natives, corporate bodies, and benevolent individuals to support the project.
“This project belongs to the entire community, and I encourage everyone to contribute towards making this dream a reality for the benefit of generations to come,” Togbi James Ocloo V said.
The Dufia further disclosed that the project would be undertaken in collaboration with the Keta Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Health Directorate, and other relevant institutions to ensure proper guidance, coordination, and adherence to required standards.
Residents present and engaged by Veritas News GH believe the establishment of the health centre will address some of the challenges associated with accessing timely medical care, particularly for vulnerable groups, while complementing existing healthcare services within the Keta Municipality.
Speaking to Veritas News GH, Secretary of the Community Development Committee, Mr. Felix Apedo, expressed optimism that the project could be completed within two years, subject to the availability of resources and continued support from stakeholders.
“With the commitment of the community and support from well-meaning individuals, we are hopeful of completing the facility within the projected timeframe,” Mr. Apedo stated.
The Adzido Health Centre project represents a renewed commitment by the community towards self-driven development and improving the wellbeing of its people through strategic investment in healthcare infrastructure.
