Sports Officials Urge Greater Investment Across Disciplines at Commonwealth Games

Sports officials have appealed for increased investment in boxing and other sporting disciplines, insisting that Ghana’s international ambitions can only be realised through sustained funding, effective planning and athlete development.

The appeal came during interactions with the Director-General of the National Sports Authority and the Administrator of the Ghana Sports Fund, Dr David Kofi Wuaku, at the Commonwealth Games.

The officials said Ghana possesses abundant sporting talent but requires stronger support systems to identify, develop and retain athletes capable of excelling on the international stage.

They advocated expanded grassroots programmes, improved technical training, regular competitions and stronger partnerships among sporting federations, government agencies and development partners.

According to the officials, creating a structured pathway from schools to elite competition would not only improve national team performance but also secure the future of Ghanaian sport.

They expressed confidence that with the continued commitment of institutions such as the Ghana Sports Fund and the National Sports Authority, Ghana can build competitive teams across boxing and many other disciplines while enhancing its prospects at future Commonwealth, African and Olympic Games.
