Keta Basic School Sports Team Receives Sporting Gear from Mr Lom N. Ahlijah

KETA (V/R) August 16 2026

Lawyer Lom Nuku Ahlijah, an energy jurist and philanthropist in Keta, has supported the Keta Basic School Sports team with vital sporting gear ahead of the ongoing Basic Schools Inter-School Sports Festival at Akatsi in the Volta Region.

The donation, comprising two sets of football jerseys and a set of volleyball jerseys, was presented on his behalf by Mr Julius Ceaser Beckly, a sports veteran in Keta.

Speaking to veritasnewsgh.com after the presentation, Mr Ahlijah said the donation was made in response to a request from the team, although the appeal came at a late stage.

He pledged to make similar and additional contributions at subsequent sporting events as part of efforts to promote a strong sports culture among schoolchildren in Keta and beyond.

Mr Collins Agbedanu, Chairman of the group, upon receiving the items, expressed appreciation to Mr Ahlijah for the gesture.

According to Mr Agbedanu, although the team’s appeal came late, they were “really overwhelmed” by the timely intervention, which he said came at a crucial moment. He acknowledged that the Municipal team lacks some vital sporting gear, and the donation will help bridge that logistical gap to put the team in a position to compete well

He used the opportunity to appeal for more support for the team and urged other individuals and sports stakeholders to extend similar assistance to young athletes.

The Keta Municipality is being represented by about 150 boys and girls at the festival, competing in various sporting disciplines, including football, volleyball, and track and field events. The 55th Volta Regional Basic Schools Inter-District Sports Festival is underway at Akatsi Sectech campus in the Akatsi South Municipality
