GTA Endorses Two Xetoto Arts Foundation Projects to Boost Arts and Cultural Innovation in Keta

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has formally endorsed two major initiatives of the Xetoto Arts Foundation
The projects include the much-anticipated “Keta Heritage Wall Project” and the 7th Edition of the Xetoto Arts Festival 2026, describing the initiatives as significant cultural and heritage projects with the potential to promote Anlo’s history, identity and tourism.
In a letter dated August 12, 2026, and made available to veritasnewsgh.com, the GTA said the two initiatives, spearheaded by the Xetoto Arts Foundation under the theme “Tides of Survival: Art, Memory and Hope in Keta,” align with its mandate to promote culture, heritage and domestic tourism in Ghana
According to the letter, signed by Mr Wisdom Ahadzi, Marketing Director, for the Chief Executive Officer, the Authority noted that the projects provide an innovative platform to preserve and narrate the history of the Anlo people through visual art, while creating space for cultural storytelling, youth participation, artistic expression, remembrance and community celebration.
The GTA further highlighted the opportunities the initiatives could create for visitors, artists, young people, local businesses and other stakeholders, describing them as a commendable contribution to cultural tourism.
“The Authority has therefore expressed its support for the successful organisation of the projects and encouraged stakeholders, development partners, corporate institutions and the general public to participate in and support the Keta Heritage Wall Project and the 7th Xetoto Arts Festival”
The Keta Heritage Wall is a public mural project that seeks to transform more than 300 metres of perimeter walls of Keta Senior High Technical School into an open-air museum showcasing the migration and resilience stories of the Anlo-Ewe history, heritage and cultural identity through art. This project will commence on Saturday, 22nd September 2026 and will be executed in collaboration with the School’s Visual Arts Department
The Xetoto Arts Festival, meanwhile, is an annual cultural event featuring cultural vigils, heritage walks and nighttime storytelling sessions.
The festival is held every November as part of activities surrounding the prestigious Anlo Hogbetsotso Festival, bringing together artists, community members, walking artists, young people and cultural enthusiasts to celebrate and preserve Anlo heritage.
The Ghana Tourism Authority’s endorsement is expected to strengthen efforts by the Xetoto Arts Foundation and its partners to position Keta as a destination for cultural and heritage tourism.
