The Xetoto Arts Foundation has finally announced dates for its much-anticipated “Keta Heritage Wall” Project, while inviting volunteer visual artists to join the landmark public art initiative, aimed at preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Anlo and Keta.
The project, which is undertaken in collaboration with Keta Senior High School (KETASCO), Visual Arts Department, will transform the 300-metre stretch of the school’s perimeter wall into a vibrant open-air museum showcasing the history, heritage and cultural identity of the Anlo people.
The six-day painting exercise will take place from Saturday 22nd September to Thursday 27 September, bringing together volunteer painters, muralists, sketch artists, illustrators and visual storytellers, including professionals and students, with organisers providing all core painting materials.
Director of the Foundation, Elorm Hughes Abdallah, said the murals would chronicle the ancient migration of the Anlo people and their enduring relationship with the sea, creating a lasting cultural landmark for residents, visitors and future generations.
The Foundation is therefore calling on all painters, muralists, sketch artists, illustrators, visual storytellers, professional visual artists, and past visual arts students of KETASCO and any sister schools to join the landmark initiative.
