Chinese Investors Eye Keta’s Economic Potential as Lom Ahlijah Leads Investment Tour

KETA, 9V/R) — August 21, 2026
Mr Lom Nuku Ahlijah has led a delegation of Chinese investors from Chongqing Zhanxian Group Ltd to the Keta Constituency to explore investment opportunities across key sectors of the local economy.
The visit, held on Friday, August 21, 2026, formed part of Mr Ahlijah’s ongoing efforts to connect the constituency with credible investors and development partners capable of unlocking its economic potential, creating jobs and supporting sustainable development.
The delegation, comprising four representatives of the Chinese investment group, officials from the Keta Municipal Assembly’s Business Advisory Department, Mr Ahlijah’s team and the media, toured several strategic locations across the constituency.
The sites visited included the proposed Keta Port area, Creeks at Abutiakope Community, the Keta Lagoon area, salt mining sites at Anlo Afiadenyigba, Anyako, and agricultural lands at Atiavi Tsiame, Abor and Anyako areas.
The tour provided the investors with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of Keta’s natural resources, existing infrastructure, geographical advantages and potential areas for commercial investment.
Particular attention was given to the proposed Keta Port and the opportunities its development could create for logistics, trade, industry, infrastructure and other supporting businesses.

The delegation also assessed the potential of the constituency’s salt resources, particularly around Anlo Afiadenyigba, with discussions focusing on moving beyond the extraction of raw salt towards processing, value addition and the development of related industries.
At the Keta Lagoon, the investors examined the area’s extensive water resources and the potential for investments that could support economic activity while contributing to sustainable management of the fragile coastal environment.
The group also considered opportunities in agriculture and aquaculture, particularly given the constituency’s extensive agricultural lands and water resources.
The Chinese investors expressed interest in exploring opportunities in agriculture, fish farming, real estate and commercial development, citing the vast arable lands identified around the Wego areas, the numerous creeks and expansive Keta Lagoon that could support aquaculture, and the availability of extensive land at Tsiame and surrounding communities for real estate and commercial development.
The visit is expected to provide the investors with the information required to assess the commercial viability of potential projects and determine areas where further technical and feasibility studies may be necessary.
The delegation noted that Keta possesses significant economic assets, including its coastline, lagoon, salt resources, agricultural potential, strategic location and prospects associated with the proposed port.
However, they stressed the need to translate these resources into viable businesses, infrastructure, employment opportunities and improved livelihoods for local communities.
Mr Ahlijah said the objective of the initiative was to position Keta as an attractive destination for serious investment while ensuring that prospective investments generate tangible economic benefits for residents.
“Keta cannot continue to sit on enormous natural and economic resources without turning them into opportunities for our people. My objective is to bring credible investors to Keta, let them see the potential for themselves, and build partnerships that will translate our land, water, agriculture, salt and port prospects into jobs, businesses and sustainable development.” He said
He said bringing investors to the constituency to see the opportunities first-hand was an important step towards developing partnerships capable of transforming Keta’s economic potential into sustainable development.
The engagement with Chongqing Zhanxian Group Ltd therefore marks an early step in efforts to identify commercially viable investment opportunities and establish potential partnerships that could contribute to economic growth and job creation in the Keta Constituency.
