Staff of GCB Bank’s Keta, Aflao and Dzodze branches have supported the Ketu South Municipal Hospital with essential equipment to improve maternal healthcare delivery at the facility.
The intervention, implemented under the bank’s Staff Community Impact Programme (SCIP), an employee-led corporate social responsibility initiative, provides critical items including delivery beds, drip stands, bedside lockers, delivery sets and bed sheets for the hospital’s maternity ward.
The support is expected to enhance the quality, safety and dignity of care provided to women who visit the facility for childbirth, while also improving working conditions for healthcare professionals.
The maternity ward serves approximately 300 women every month, making the provision of additional equipment particularly significant to the facility and the communities it serves.
The initiative forms part of 95 community projects being undertaken by more than 4,500 GCB employees across Ghana, with the collective interventions projected to positively impact up to one million lives.
The Ketu South Municipal Hospital maternity ward intervention is Project 8 of the 95 community projects being implemented under the SCIP initiative.
The initiative underscores the potential of employee-led community interventions to complement existing healthcare infrastructure and contribute to improved health outcomes across communities.
