The reconstruction of the deteriorated Dadame Culvert at Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality has finally begun after years of posing a serious threat to residents and road users.
The reconstruction brings a renewed hope to communities that have long demanded a permanent solution to the damaged culvert
According to reports by Revival FM, a Tadzewu based radio station, the contractors, (Timeline and Innovation Limited), on Thursday, July 30, 2026, moved to site and commenced preliminary works, including site clearing, ahead of the full reconstruction of the culvert on the Tadzewu Zongo–Wosset road.
The project addresses a major infrastructure challenge that has persisted since 2019, with the damaged culvert exposing residents, farmers, traders, schoolchildren and commuters to significant danger, particularly during the rainy season.
The need for urgent intervention was thrown into sharp focus a fortnight ago when a young girl, (Edoe Dedzo), tragically drowned in the Dadame River while attempting to cross the area.
The incident sparked widespread public concern and renewed calls for immediate action to prevent further loss of life.
Following the incidence, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Meli Atipoe, raised the matter on the floor of the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, urging authorities to expedite the reconstruction of the culvert to eliminate the long-standing danger.
The project follows sustained lobbying by the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, with support from the Government, the Minister for Roads and Highways, and the Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rev. Martin Amenaki, to secure a lasting solution to the long-neglected crossing.
Residents who spoke to the media welcomed the commencement of work with relief and optimism, expressing confidence that the reconstructed culvert will improve road safety, restore access between communities, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and help prevent tragedies that have plagued the area for years.
