The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has commenced the distribution of relief items to households affected by the recent flooding that ravaged parts of the constituency following heavy rains and the overflow of the Keta Lagoon.

The first phase of the exercise was carried out on Tuesday in the communities of Sakome, Dosukofe and Agobledokui in the Shime area, where NADMO officials, supported by the MP and other stakeholders, presented essential relief supplies to affected families.

The floods submerged homes and farmlands, destroyed property, displaced several households and disrupted livelihoods, leaving many residents in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

Speaking during the exercise, District NADMO Director Mr Blekpe said the intervention formed part of ongoing efforts to provide immediate relief to victims while government continued to assess the extent of the damage and coordinate further response measures.

Mr Richard Kwame Sefe, the Member of Parliament for Anlo, said his support for the exercise reflected his commitment to standing with constituents during difficult times.

The relief package included 150 student mattresses, 210 bags of rice, 50 basins, 100 buckets, 150 blankets, 105 pairs of Wellington boots, quantities of cooking oil and other essential household items.

The exercise was witnessed by the Anlo Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Rolex Agbey Miheso, representatives of the District Chief Executive and community leaders.ADMO indicated that the distribution to Sakome, Dosukofe and Agobledokui marked the first phase of the emergency response, with additional relief expected to reach other affected communities in the Shime area and Kome in the coming days. The Organisation appealed to individuals, corporate bodies and humanitarian organisations to complement ongoing relief efforts to support affected families as they recover from the disaster.
