Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has pledged to spearhead efforts to mobilise substantial support for the Keta Government Hospital as it prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary later this year.
Dr. Djokoto made the commitment during a visit to the hospital this week at the invitation of its management as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements for the centenary celebrations.
Addressing the media during the tour, he described the Keta Government Hospital as one of the most important healthcare institutions in the Anlo enclave and the southern Volta Region, noting that its nearly century-long contribution to healthcare delivery deserves recognition and renewed investment.
“For nearly a hundred years, the hospital has been a beacon of hope, offering healing and service to countless families across the municipality and beyond,” Dr. Djokoto said.
He observed that although the hospital has served generations of Ghanaians and remains a critical pillar of healthcare in the area, it now requires a major facelift to meet growing health demands and improve the quality of services.
“As this historic milestone approaches, it is prudent that we come together as sons and daughters of the land, stakeholders, and development partners to honour its legacy by supporting this facelift, we will secure the hospital’s future and ensure it continues to serve with dignity and excellence for generations yet unborn.” Dzokoto said.
The Deputy NHIA CEO’s latest commitment comes just weeks after he announced plans to mobilise GH¢1 million to support recovery and rebuilding efforts in communities affected by the recent Keta Lagoon floods.
During that visit, he donated relief items to aid community clean-up exercises and pledged to rally resources to assist residents whose homes and livelihoods were devastated by the disaster.
Established in 1926, the Keta Government Hospital at Dzelukope in the Keta Municipality is one of Ghana’s oldest public health facilities. The NHIA-accredited hospital offers general clinical services and features an ultramodern 60-bed maternity and neonatal block.

The hospital officially launched its centenary celebrations last year, with the main anniversary events scheduled for October 2026.
