The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) led by Mr Kissi Agyabeng has officially removed Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, the former Minister of Finance, from its list of wanted persons following his communication of a definitive return date to Ghana.
On February 12, 2025, the Special Prosecutor declared Mr Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted person and fugitive from justice after he (Ofori Attah) failed to provide a reasonable timeframe for his return to the jurisdiction.
This decision was made despite his prior notification from the OSP that he was a suspect in several corruption-related investigations and was required to attend an interview at the OSP’s office in Accra on a specified date.
However, on February 18, 2025, Mr. Ofori-Atta communicated through his lawyers, confirming a definite date for his voluntary return. The OSP deemed his stated date reasonable and subsequently rescheduled his attendance for an interview, acknowledging his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
As a result, Mr. Ofori-Atta has been removed from the OSP’s list of wanted persons, and the OSP no longer considers him a fugitive pending his voluntary return.
Nevertheless, the OSP cautioned that failure to return or attend the rescheduled interview would result in his re-listing as a wanted person, with all necessary legal measures to ensure his attendance.
The OSP emphasized its commitment to accountability, due process, and fairness in its pursuit of justice.
