Shea Network -Ghana Begins Needs Assessment for Shea Sector Actors

By Adam Abdul-Fatawu Wunizoya, Tamale

Shea Network -Ghana (SNG), a leading advocacy organization for the shea industry, has commenced a comprehensive Needs Assessment Exercise aimed at identifying the challenges and needs of actors within the Shea value chain.

The exercise, which commenced recently, is currently focused on actors within Tamale and will subsequently be extended to actors outside of Tamale. This assessment will engage various stakeholders, including shea collectors, processors, traders, and other industry players.

The assessment will focus on understanding the current challenges, gaps, and opportunities within the sector, with the ultimate goal of informing evidence-based interventions to support the growth and development of the industry.

According to James Kpenyog Dakora, Coordinator of Shea Network -Ghana, “The Needs Assessment Exercise is a critical step towards unlocking the full potential of the shea sector. By understanding the actual needs and challenges faced by actors within the value chain, we can develop targeted solutions to address these gaps and promote sustainable growth and development.”

The exercise will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. This will include surveys and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders.

Shea Network -Ghana calls on all actors within the shea value chain to cooperate and commit to this exercise. Your participation and input are crucial in shaping the future of the industry.

“We urge all actors to take this exercise seriously and provide accurate and reliable information. This will enable us to develop effective solutions to address the challenges facing the sector,” Dr James added
