President John Dramani Mahama has given a directive to host an emergency Cabinet meeting in relation to the trending issues relating to the cocoa sector

This Directive was announced by Mr Felix Ofosu-Kwakye, Presidential Spokesperson Tuesday morning on his official X and Facebook timelimes.

“Preadient Mahama has called an EMERGENCY CABINET SESSION for tomorrow, Wednesday, 11th February, 2026, to address all issues affecting the Cocoa sector” The statement read

The urgent meeting comes as the cocoa sector faces series of challenges, including severe financing challenges that have delayed payments to farmers and value chain actors, heightening concerns about the industry’s stability and future.

This Cabinet meeting is expected to bring together ministers of State, sector experts and key government officials to discuss immediate interventions, including measures to ensure timely payments to farmers, secure financing for cocoa purchases and shore up confidence in the value chain.
