National vetting for Volta Region MMDCEs set, two more candidates cleared for Keta and Ketu South

The National Vetting Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), responsible for vetting candidates for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) positions, has announced the schedule for vetting candidates from the Volta Region.
The vetting exercise is scheduled to take place on Monday, February 24, and Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Local Government Institute in Madina, Accra, commencing at 9:00 AM each day.
On the first day, candidates from nine districts, including Adaklu, Afadzato South, Agotime Ziope, Akatsi North, Akatsi South, Anlo, Central Tongu, Ho Municipal, and Ho West, will be assessed.
On the second day, candidates from Hohoe Municipal, Keta Municipal, Ketu North Municipal, Ketu South Municipal, Kpando Municipal, North Dayi, North Tongu, South Dayi, and South Tongu will take their turn before the committee.
Meanwhile, the schedule includes two newly added candidates for the Keta and Ketu South Municipalities who were not initially cleared by the Regional Vetting Committee in January during the regional vetting.
“Simon Awadzi and Nicholas Kwabla Worlachie, representing Keta Municipal and Ketu South Municipal, respectively, have now been cleared to appear before the National Vetting Committee as scheduled,” the announcement stated.
The National Vetting Committee is chaired by Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC National Chairman, and includes Mr Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, Dr Valerie Sawyer, Alhaji Collins Dauda, Mr Cletus Avorkah, Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzrah, and Madam Naa Momo Lartey.
The vetting process is a critical step in the appointment of MMDCEs, ensuring that selected candidates meet the required leadership and administrative standards for effective local governance under President John Mahama administration.
