HOGBEZA 2025: Committee Unveils Theme, Logo and Lineup of Activities

The Central Planning Committee of the 2025 Anlo Hogbetsotso Festival has officially launched this year’s celebrations, announcing the festival theme, a logo and a detailed programme of activities.
At a colourful ceremony held on Saturday 30th August 2025 at the Ohawu Agricultural College in the Afife Traditional Area, the committee unveiled the theme for the year’s festival as: “Building Bridges: From a Common History to a Common Destiny.”

Explaining the choice of theme, Mr Agbeko Mattah, a member of the committee, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it reflected the need to strengthen unity among the Anlo people, preserve their shared history, and chart a collective future built on peace and development.
The programme lineup spanned several weeks and highlighted cultural, traditional, educational, and social events across the Anlo State.
There would be a ban on drumming and noisemaking between September 7 and 27, 2025, throughout Anlo Dukor; a Leadership Seminar for Chiefs and Traditional Leaders from October 8 to 10, 2025, at Anloga, and a Mini Durbar at Mafi Adidome on October 25.
Again, there would be a Children’s Durbar and Inter-School Quiz Competition on October 29, 2025, involving basic and senior high schools across Anlo, as well as a Nugbidodo (Reconciliation Rites) also on October 30, 2025, at Agorwornu, followed by a Unity Concert at Anloga.
Activities for Pre-Festival Day, which is October 31, 2025, includes: The Awoamefia, Togbi Sri III, sitting in state at his Woe residence to receive visitors alongside other paramount chiefs.
Again, while the Volta Economic Forum would take place at the Reddington Hotel, Whuti; the historic Glimetoto (Exodus Reenactment) would be staged at Anloga in the evening, and the Mama Hogbe Cultural Pageant would also be hosted at the premises of Jubilee Radio.
A Grand Durbar would be held on November 01, 2025, at the Hogbe Park in Anloga, to climax the festival.
Post-Durbar Events include a Beach Party at the Emancipation Beach, at Keta on November 2nd, 2025, followed by an interfaith thanksgiving services and post-festival activities in various towns between November 3rd and 9th, 2025.
Mr Mattah emphasised that each activity had been carefully designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Anlo, foster unity, and rekindle bonds among citizens both at home and abroad.
In a related event, an official logo was also out doored, indicating the credibility and public endorsement of the festival.

The logo contained a three colour design with artistic events.
Mr Jonathan Kofi Kumordzie, the Head of the Graphic Design Committee, explained that the logo was a dynamic symbol celebrating the historic exodus and vibrant unity of the Anlo people.
“The Golden Sphere and Sun represent a new dawn, the promise of a new home, and the richness of Anlo culture. Footprints showing direct symbol of the ‘Tsotso’ or historic migration, representing the people’s journey to freedom,” he said
He said the Communal Pot signified unity, shared heritage, and sustenance, acting as the heart of the new community, while the Celebrating Silhouettes, symbolised the joy, cultural expression, and festive spirit of the people upon their arrival.
