Ghana Grants Citizenship to IShowSpeed with a Passport Issuance

The Government of Ghana has approved the issuance of a Ghanaian passport to popular American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, following official confirmation of his ancestral and cultural ties to Ghana.
The approval was granted and confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, after engagements led by Ghanaian tourism content creator Wode Maya, who accompanied IShowSpeed during his recent visit to the country.

I am pleased to inform you and our compatriots that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved the issuance of a Ghanaian Passport to IShowSpeed.
IShowSpeed, born Darren Jason Watkins Jr. on January 21, 2005, concluded a 28-day Africa tour on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with his Ghana leg drawing widespread public attention and positive reactions across social media. The tour was widely described by fans as one of the most impactful stops of his African visit.
Government officials praised both IShowSpeed and Wode Maya for projecting Ghana positively on the global stage, describing them as worthy ambassadors for the country and the African continent.

The issuance of the Ghanaian Passport to the American Content creator will mean he (Speed) will be officially regarded as a Ghanaian, which will result in more engagements for the West Africa culture and tourist-rich nation
