Kwame Asare Obeng, alias A Plus, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Gomoa Central constituency, has charged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to focus its time and resources on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and not on him.
A Plus’ statement follows a report where the NDC implicates some members of the party in doing his bidding instead of the party’s.
The report, which follows the recently held limited registration, states that some of the challenges the party encountered were that “most ward coordinators and branch executives currently at post, as well as some members of the party, were openly working for Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly called A Plus.”
In his response to the report, A Plus alleged that the NPP has already suspended some of its constituency executives for allegedly supporting him.
A Plus denied the claims from both political parties and urged them to focus on their candidates instead of making allegations against him.
“The NPP has suspended constituency executives, including the chairman, organizer, and 2nd vice chairman, for allegedly supporting me. The NDC has also claimed in their report that their party executives are working for me. To add to that, they are even alleging that Gum Party executives are also supporting me. Please, it’s not true. #Focus on the NPP, not me. I beg.”
A Plus is a musician and social commentator who has jumped into the political ring with the hope of winning the Gomoa Central seat as an independent candidate.
