CAF Postpones 2024 CHAN Tournament to August 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), originally scheduled for February 2024 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, to August 2025.

The decision follows recommendations from CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts, who indicated the need for additional time to ensure infrastructure and facilities meet the required standards.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe expressed gratitude to the presidents of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda for their leadership and the progress achieved in upgrading stadiums, training grounds, hotels, and other facilities. Dr. Motsepe voiced confidence in the ongoing construction and renovations and assured that the tournament will be hosted successfully in August 2025.

The draw for the CHAN 2024 tournament will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Nairobi. The exact date for the tournament’s commencement in August 2025 will be announced in due course.
