CAF announces group stage draw for AFCON 2025
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the group stage draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to take place in Morocco.
The tournament, scheduled to run from December 21 202 to January 18, 2026, features 24 teams divided into six groups, promising an exciting showcase of African football.
The draw took place in an extravagant ceremony at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday January 27, 2025 had representatives from each country to participate in the draw
Group A: Morocco (hosts), Mali, Zambia, Comoros
Group B: Egypt. South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe
Group C: Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania
Group D: Senegal, DR Congo, Benin, Botswana
Group E: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Sudan
Group F: Cote D’Ivoir, Cameroon, Gabon, Mozambique
Reigning champions Senegal will face DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana in Group D. Meanwhile, hosts Morocco, aiming to secure their second title, lead Group A with Mali, Zambia, and Comoros. Notable encounters include Nigeria’s clash with Tunisia in Group C and a high-stakes battle between Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon in Group F.
