Ato Forson’s Trial: Ayine’s allegations are highly disingenuous – Godfred Dame

The former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mr Godfred Yeboah Damey has refuted allegations made by the new Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine concerning the trial of Mr Casel Ato Forson, the current Finance Minister

Mr Yeboah Dame made these revelations when he was speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, February 14, 2025, where he described Dr Ayine’s claims as “highly disingenuous” and accused them of being part of a series of falsehoods propagated by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dame said, “Dr Ayine’s unfounded allegation insinuating unethical conduct on my part in the conduct of the ambulance trial- Republic versus Ato Forson and two others is highly disingenuous and rather recaps the series of falsehoods persistently published by foot soldiers of the NDC and other uninformed members of society.”

Dr Ayine discontinued some high-profile cases levelled against some former State officials, a situation that resulted in many questions from the public

But on Wednesday, February 12, He justified his decision to discontinue the cases against state officials including Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Asiama.

The A-G explained that the charges against these accused persons in the cases were defective and by professional and ethical standards, there were no valid reasons to continue with the cases.

Dr Ayine added that evidence adduced in these cases fell significantly short of what was required to convict the accused persons.
