Ashanti Regional Taskforce Seizes Firearms and Equipment in Anti-Galamsey Operation
The Regional Anti-Galamsey Taskforce, comprising personnel from National Security, the Police, the Minerals Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency, has conducted a major operation at New Edubiase along the Pra River.
During the exercise, the team seized seven excavators, demobilized five others, and confiscated two generators, two motorbikes, pump-action guns, and other mining equipment. The seized items have been transported to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) for further action.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Frank Amoakohene, emphasized the government’s firm stance against illegal mining, particularly in forest reserves and river bodies. He reiterated that the government remains committed to supporting responsible mining while enforcing strict measures against environmental degradation.
