Akatsi Global Evangelical Church steps in to fix the Deplorable Akatsi-Ho Road

Akatsi September 1 2025

The Global Evangelical Church, Shalom Chapel in Akatsi, has taken the initiative to repair portions of the Akatsi-Ho road by filling potholes along the stretch.

Led by their Parish Pastor, Rev. F.E.K. Dande, the congregation embarked on the communal exercise after church service on Sunday, 31st August 2025. Their effort was aimed at easing the hardship of motorists and commuters who struggle daily with the road’s poor condition.

Using red sand, members filled potholes from the NCCE office to Gadzekpo, helping to reduce damage to vehicles and improve the safety of road users. The stretch has long posed a danger to lives, particularly during the rainy season.

Hon. Wonder Gatepe, Assemblyman for the area, praised the church for its commitment to community development and nation-building. He expressed gratitude to the leadership and members for setting a positive example.

Beyond the immediate repairs, the church emphasized that the exercise was also an advocacy call. Rev. Dande appealed to government and municipal authorities to urgently undertake comprehensive repairs on the Akatsi-Ho road. He commended all members who participated and encouraged wider community involvement in development initiatives.

“This initiative is a testament to the church’s commitment to serving the community beyond spiritual matters. The Global Evangelical Church Shalom Chapel Akatsi has set an example of community service and development, inspiring others to follow suit.” Rev. F.E.K. Dande
