Tadzewu, Volta Region – Saturday, May 31, 2025
Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Mr. Carson Fogah Ladzekpo, a respected elder, retired seafarer, and farmer in the Tadzewu community.
In a public statement issued on Saturday, Hon. Agbana described the incident as “gruesome” and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Ketu North. The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the constituency, is reported to have been carried out by a Fulani herdsman, who has since been arrested and is assisting the police with investigations.
The MP stated that he has been in close contact with the police and other security agencies and has urged them to ensure the perpetrator is made to face the full rigours of the law.
“I urge the Chiefs, Religious Leaders, Opinion Leaders, the Tadzewu community, and the entire Ketu North Constituency to remain calm and allow the security agencies to firmly pursue this case so that justice is served,” he appealed.
While condemning the act as an atrocity, Hon. Agbana cautioned the community against taking the law into their own hands or letting the tragic incident disturb the peace and stability of the area.
In response to the murder, he announced that an emergency meeting of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), led by the Municipal Chief Executive, will be held on Monday. The meeting aims to develop strategies to properly regulate the activities of Fulani herdsmen within the municipality.
The murder of Mr. Ladzekpo has reignited concerns over the conduct of some Fulani herdsmen in various parts of the country. Authorities are being called upon to take decisive and lawful action to prevent further violence and restore community trust.
