NUGS suspends planned demonstration against WAEC over withheld results
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) have called off their intended demonstration against the examination body, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) over the latter’s decision to withhold some results of the 2024 WASSCE examinations
This new decision was arrived at after an emergency meeting with key stakeholders of the various parties including, officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES), WAEC and the NUGS leadership.

The examination body has assured them that, all withheld results will be released before March 1, 2025. In response, NUGS has opted to monitor WAEC’s adherence to this commitment instead of proceeding with the protest.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service led by the Director-General has called on NUGS to submit policy proposals on reforms concerning examination malpractice in Ghana
The union is urging students, parents, and stakeholders to remain calm while they oversee WAEC’s compliance.
