Sremanu Assemblymember begins water supply to residents amid Tordzi river contamination

In response to a worsening water situation in the Sremanu- Wuxor areas in the Akatsi South Municipal due to the contamination of the Tordzi River, Mr Japhet Festus Gbede, Assemblymember for Sremanu electoral area has began a community led initiative today to find solution to the pending problem.
The iniative which involves distribution of clean water to residents in the Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu Electoral Area is to reduce their chances of getting infected.
The primary source of water for people in this area is the Tordzi River, which has been contaminated by harmful agrochemical, leaving many especially farmers and residents in distress.
The distribution began from Sremanu and will extend to Have-Fiakpokorpe, Ekporkorpe, and nearby villages to ensure access to clean water for all.

Mr Festus Gbede, speaking to veritasnewsgh expressed gratitude all those who supported the initiative particularly the Akatsi South Fire Service Command for their quick intervention.
The Volta Regional Cordinating Council (VRCC) issuied a communique on February 19th warning communities that rely on the Tordzi River to take precautions due to an agrochemical contamination of the river at Torve in Togo
Sremanu, Have, Wuxor and their adjourning communities heavily use the river for their farming and domestic activities and this initiative by the Assemblymember is his commitment to a healthier community.
