Hogbetsotso 2026 to Spotlight Anlo’s Culture, Economy and Investment Opportunities — Planning Committee

Tegbi (V/R), October 02 2026
Togbi Zewu IV, Paramount Chief of Anloga, and the Chairman of the Hogbetsotso Festival Local Planning Committee has called on the media to use the 2026 Hogbetsotso Festival celebration to promote Anlo’s rich cultural heritage, economic potential and investment opportunities.
He said the annual festival should go beyond cultural displays and entertainment to highlight the livelihoods, enterprises and development opportunities within the Anlo traditional area and the wider Volta Region.
Togbi Zewu IV made the call in a speech delivered on behalf of Awadada of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, who is the chairman of the Central planning committee at the official media launch of the Hogbetsotso Za 2026 THursday morning at the Eli Beach Resort at Tegbi in the Anloga District.
The festival is being held under the theme: “Anlo, Our Heritage and Our Values: Striving to Build One Ghana for a Better Tomorrow.”
Togbi Zewu IV, said the theme reflected the relevance of Anlo’s history, cultural heritage and traditional values to contemporary national development, while challenging the youth and leadership to draw lessons from the past and contribute to a peaceful, united and prosperous Ghana.
“We appeal to you, our media houses, to look beyond the beautiful colours of the kente, the rhythms of the Agbadza dance and other performances to highlight the economic opportunities within the Anlo Dukor. Tell the stories of our hardworking fishermen, our shallot farmers, our hospitality practitioners and our coastal vulnerabilities to climate change,” he said.
The Awadada said the media had an important role to play in taking the story of Hogbetsotso beyond Anlo and Ghana to the international community, particularly by promoting domestic tourism and attracting investment to the area.
He described the media as an important bridge between Anlo’s cultural heritage and the global community, saying effective coverage of the festival could help preserve traditions while creating greater awareness of the economic and social potential of the area.

Heritage and national development
The statement said Hogbetsotso remained a significant reminder of the historic migration of the Anlo people from Notsie to their present homeland and the values of resilience, unity, courage and strategic thinking associated with that history.
He said those values could provide lessons for contemporary Ghana, particularly in addressing economic and development challenges.
“This year’s Hogbetsotso will serve as a national platform to inspire a mindset shift. We want to highlight how cultural discipline, local economic empowerment and traditional accountability can contribute to the urgent national agenda of resetting Ghana’s economy,” he said.
He urged the youth and leadership of Anlo to draw inspiration from the history of their ancestors and apply those values to contemporary development.
The Awadada expressed appreciation to corporate partners supporting the 2026 celebration, including MTN, Telecel, Accra Brewery Limited, Guinness Ghana and Ghana Exim Bank, as well as other local and international sponsors, saying such partnerships were essential to the successful organisation of a festival of the scale and significance of Hogbetsotso Za.
He commended Ghana Exim Bank for aligning its support with the economic objectives of the celebration, particularly in relation to trade and industrial development along the Volta economic corridor.
He also urged other businesses and institutions to support initiatives that promote cultural preservation, tourism, enterprise development and community advancement.
The Awadada further called on Anlo citizens, residents, friends and well-wishers to participate actively and peacefully in the 2026 celebration. He said the festival should be used as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds, support local businesses, inspire young people and promote the values of unity and national development.
The Hogbetsotso Za 2026 will bring together chiefs, traditional leaders, residents, visitors and other stakeholders for a series of cultural and community activities culminating in the festival’s grand celebration.
The festival will feature a series of cultural, educational, health, sporting, entertainment and social activities across the Anlo Dukor.
Key activities include the Mini Durbar at Bleamezado on Saturday, October 17; the Schools Durbaron Wednesday, November 4, to be held across the Anlo Dukor; the Hogbe Health Walk on Friday, November 6; the Mama Hogbe Beauty Pageant; and the Reconciliation Rites (Nugbidodo) at Anloga Agorwowornu on Thursday, November 5.
Other sporting, entertainment and social activities will also form part of the celebrations before the festival climaxes on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Awoamefia Togbi Sri III Astro Turf Park, formerly known as the Hogbe or Avete Park.
The media launch formally opened the publicity campaign for this year’s festival and set the stage for wider national and international promotion of Anlo’s heritage, tourism attractions and development opportunities.
