Ketu South to Get Five New Basic Schools Under 3-Year Philanthropic Plan by Felix Akonta

Five new basic schools are to be established in some underserved communities in the Ketu South Municipality within the next three years as part of initiatives to expand access to quality basic education in the municipality.
The initiative, being pursued by Mr Felix Akakpo Akonta (Torgbui Tenuvi II) in collaboration with the Aflao Traditional Council and the Ketu South Municipal Education Directorate, will see new schools established at Apekotuime, Detokpe, Fihokope, Awakome and Wudoaba.
The Youth and Development Chief who announced the initiative said the planned schools formed part of a deliberate investment in the future of communities, with young people at the centre of the development agenda.
“These are deliberate investments in the future of our communities, with the youth at the centre,” the Chief said.
The announcement was made at Viepe during a programme at which more than 300 BECE graduates from the municipality received educational materials, including mattresses, school trunks, chop boxes and buckets, to support their transition to Senior High School (SHS).
Mr Felix Akakpo said the establishment of the new schools would complement ongoing investments in education infrastructure across the municipality.
These include the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Lente Wute, a three-unit classroom block at Duta Basic School, and the full renovation of Huime Agordoma Basic School.
The Chief also disclosed plans to strengthen access to healthcare within the education system through the construction of five school clinics for the five Senior High Schools in the municipality.
Additionally, sports complexes at Lente-Yame and Avoeme are being developed to help identify and nurture young talents.
He said the interventions reflected a commitment to making education, health and sports central to the development of the municipality.
“Youth development through education, health and sports remains the cornerstone of my development agenda,” the Chief stated.
The Chief further called on citizens of Ketu South, both resident in Ghana and abroad, to support efforts to improve educational opportunities for children, stressing that government alone could not address all the challenges confronting the sector.
“If we all support one child, we can eliminate dropout after the Basic Education Certificate Examination,” the Chief said.
