The Member of Parliament for the Anloga Constituency in the Volta Region, Mr Richard Kwame Sefe, has provided timely support to the Anloga District team ahead of its participation in this year’s Volta Region Basic Schools Inter-District Sports Festival.
The support includes a cash donation of GH₵15,000 to assist the young athletes representing the Anloga District at the regional-level competition, along with other logistical and welfare services for a successful program.
The donation was handed over to Mr Gordor Theophilus, Chairman of the Anloga District Sports Association, on Saturday shortly before the team departed for the competition.
According to Mr Sefe, the support is intended to help the team meet its logistical and welfare needs and compete effectively while proudly representing the district.
“I commend the young athletes, coaches, and organisers for their dedication and hard work. I wish the team the very best and encourage them to compete with discipline, determination, and the confidence that the people of Anlo are behind them,” Sefe said.
Beyond the cash donation, Mr Sefe announced plans to provide sporting gear for the district team.
He disclosed that he had sponsored the sewing and purchase of tracksuits, sets of jerseys and other relevant sporting equipment for the district.
The items were initially expected to be ready for use at this year’s festival. However, he explained that production delays had prevented their completion and assured the team that they would be delivered for subsequent sporting events.
Mr John Deafatror, Anloga District Sports Coordinator, who witnessed the presentation, in his interaction with veritasnewsgh.com, expressed confidence in the team’s performance and assured the MP, his delegation and the entire district that the contingent would give its best to secure victory for the District.
The Anloga District contingent comprises about 150 athletes competing in various sporting disciplines, including soccer, volleyball, table tennis, netball, track and field events and other activities
The 55th Volta Region Basic Schools Inter-District Sports Festival is currently underway at Akatsi Senior High Technical School in the Akatsi South District and is scheduled to end on Friday, August 21, 2026.
