Ademola Lookman and Barbra Banda Crowned Top Winners at CAF 2024 Awards
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the winners of its 2024 awards, celebrating the continent’s outstanding football talents and achievements. The star-studded event recognized players, coaches, teams, and officials who excelled in their respective categories over the past year.
Top Honors for Players
Ademola Lookman of Nigeria was crowned Men’s Best Player, marking a stellar year for the forward. On the women’s side, Zambia’s Barbra Banda clinched the Women’s Best Player award for her exceptional performances.
Coaching Excellence
Emerse Faè from Ivory Coast was named Men’s Best Coach, while Morocco’s Lamia Boumedi took home the Women’s Best Coach award, underscoring their tactical brilliance on the sidelines.
Goalkeeping Stars
South Africa’s Ronwen Williams was a double winner, earning the titles of Men’s Best Goalkeeper and Inter-Club Player of the Year. For the women, Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie was honored as the Women’s Best Goalkeeper.
Club of the Year Awards
Egyptian giants Al Ahly FC were named Men’s Club of the Year, while TP Mazembe from DR Congo secured the Women’s Club of the Year accolade.
National Team Success
Ivory Coast’s men’s national team was recognized as the Men’s National Team of the Year, while Nigeria’s women’s national team claimed the Women’s National Team of the Year title.
Rising Stars
Senegal’s Lamine Camara was awarded Men’s Young Player of the Year, with Morocco’s Doha El Madani receiving the Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
Referees Honored
Libya’s Mutaz Ibrahim and Cameroon’s Elvis Guy Noupuex were celebrated as Best Men’s Referee and Assistant Referee of the Year, respectively. For the women, Morocco’s Bouchra Karboubi and Zambia’s Diana Chikotesha were honored in the same categories.
Other Highlights
Cristóvão Paciência Mabululu of Angola won the Goal of the Year award, and Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy was named Women’s Inter-Club Player of the Year.
