Mr David Sitsofe Tamakloe, a philanthropist and journalist, has partnered with the Ketu South Municipal Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and donated some relief items to flood victims at Agbozume-Ahorkpoe in the Ketu South Municipality.
The intervention, held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the AME Zion Junior High School premises, was aimed at supporting some 125 victims of the recent flood which includes, including men, women, and children whose homes and livelihoods were affected by recent flooding in the municipality.
Mr Tamakloe, who is a native of Klikor-Kpordoave, said the initiative was made possible through the support of private individuals, including Mrs Veronica Debrah, wife of the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, and other benevolent partners.
He said the gesture was his contribution towards easing the hardship of affected families while complementing government’s relief efforts.
Mr Tamakloe encouraged residents to take proactive measures against flooding by participating in communal labour and ensuring that drains and waterways were kept clean and free from waste.
“Let’s maintain proper hygiene practices to prevent possible disease outbreaks, particularly cholera, which often becomes a threat after flooding. Floods may not always displace people, but they create conditions that increase the risk of diseases,” he said.
The relief package included bags of rice, cooking oil, Indomie noodles, toilet rolls, detergents, bathing soaps, diapers, sanitary pads, sachet water, soft drinks and other essential items.
The Ketu South Municipal Director of NADMO, Mr Ferguson Ahorlu, commended Mr Tamakloe and his partners for the timely support, describing it as a significant contribution towards ongoing relief efforts in the municipality.
He advised residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer locations during the rainy season to protect lives and property, while announcing that the Assembly would soon implement stringent measures, including actions against structures obstructing waterways, to address flooding in the municipality.
Receiving the items on behalf of beneficiaries, the Assembly Member for the Ahorkpoe Electoral Area, Mr Saviour Agbeko Awoye, expressed appreciation to the donors and assured them that the items would be distributed fairly, as He urged residents to actively participate in monthly communal labour exercises and warned that sanctions would be applied to those who failed to comply with the directive.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Mr Tamakloe, NADMO and the supporting partners, describing the intervention as timely and a relief during a difficult period.
He appealed to individuals and organisations to support flood victims across the municipality and announced plans to extend the relief exercise to communities including Blekusu, Klikor, Akame, Kpodzi and other affected areas in Aflao.
