The Planning Committee overseeing the 2026 Anlo Hogbetsotso Festival has announced plans for the official launch of this year’s celebration, signaling the commencement of activities towards the annual cultural festival of the Anlo people
The launch is expected to provide the platform for the Anlo Dukor Council and the Festival Planning Committee to formally introduce the 2026 Festival programme, outline key activities and initiatives, and engage stakeholders and the media on preparations towards the main celebration.
In a letter dated September 24, 2026, and signed by Togbi Haxormene IV, Secretary to the Awoamefia, Togbi Sri III, the Committee announced that the launch would take place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Eli Beach Resort in Tegbi in the Anloga District from 11:00 in the morning.
According to Togbi Haxormene IV, the ceremony will formally introduce the 2026 Hogbetsotso-Zã celebrations and provide an overview of the planned activities, programme of events, festival theme and other key initiatives.
Speaking exclusively to veritasnewsgh.com to confirm the launch arrangements, Togbi Haxormene IV clarified that the event would primarily be a media launch aimed at engaging journalists and formally presenting the programme outline for the 2026 Hogbetsotso-Zã.
“The moment will also provide the opportunity to engage the media persons present, stakeholders and partners as preparations intensify for the main festival in a few weeks,” Togbi Haxormene IV said.
The media launch is expected to set the tone for the broader festival activities and deepen public awareness of the significance and programme of this year’s Hogbetsotso-Zã celebration.
Ahead of the launch, a number of key traditional activities have already taken place as part of preparations for the festival. These include the commencement of the ban on drumming and noise-making, which paved way for critical traditional rites performed to the Anlo deities and ancestors to spiritually prepare and pacify the land ahead of the celebrations.
Other activities already undertaken include meetings of the Anlo Traditional Council members, as the various traditional structures and stakeholders continue preparations towards the climax of the 2026 Hogbetsotso Festival, which is slated for Saturday, November 7th 2026, at the Awoamefia Togbi Sri III Astro Turf Park, in Anloga
The Traditional Council and the Festival Planning Committee therefore invite members of the media and key stakeholders to the media launch, scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Eli Beach Resort in Tegbi, in the Anloga District of the Volta Region.
